Who's Who in CCWA

July 2006 - Dave Kelley

Dave Kelley, known to the local windsurfing community for his love of the sport and his recent tireless fundraising to improve Bird Island Basin (BIB), died this summer. He was 76. Windsurfers, friends, and family gathered for a July memorial at BIB. Following is an excerpt from Dave’s obituary.

April 2006 - Ingrid and Konrad Seyfferth

Ingrid and Konrad Seyfferth are German citizens and regular visitors to Bird Island, making two trips a year for the past 9 years. Both windsurf and kitesurf. In 2002 their motor home was totaled at BIB when a rogue thunderstorm turned it over.    Read more ...

March 2006 - Karl Schuler

On most windy afternoons, Karl Schuler can be found tearing around the Laguna Madre or the Oso Bay. However, this 10-year CCWA member is even quicker off the water, with his hands and mind. Karl is a skilled woodworker, blacksmith, engineer, world traveler, and more.    Read more ...

February 2006 - Don Lumley (Crab)

I am sure most of you know Don Lumley better as Crab. He has been a member of the CCWA since about 1981. He has served as commodore, vice commodore, and newsletter editor, and still volunteers for countless club events from barbecues to running errands for Arleen Ward. He also won the B-class Speed Challenge last year at Bird Island Basin (BIB).    Read more ...

January 2006 - Alissa Inman

Alissa Inman is the new editor of the club’s newsletter, and she was recently elected to the CCWA Board of Directors. Most of the local sailors know Alissa because she sails virtually every launch site in the Coastal Bend.    Read more ...
